Licensing Sub Committee - Tuesday, 21st January, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Licensing Sub-Committee adjourned the application for a new premises licence for Popular Pizza, 536 Commercial Road, London, E1 0HY after the applicant was called to a medical emergency. The sub-committee granted an application by A Portuguese Love Affair Limited for a new premises licence for 324 Basement and 326 Ground Floor and Basement, Hackney Road, London, E2 7AX, also known as a Portuguese Love Affair, for the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises, the provision of live and recorded music, and the provision of late night refreshment, subject to conditions.
Licensing Sub Committee - Tuesday, 7th January, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Licensing Sub Committee of Tower Hamlets Council met on 7 January 2025 to discuss two applications for new premise licences. The committee refused a new premises licence for Harvest, a supermarket on Brick Lane, due to concerns about its location within a cumulative impact zone[^2] and the potential for increased public nuisance and crime and disorder. An application for a new premise licence for Z & H One Rice Ltd, also on Brick Lane, was withdrawn by the applicant. The committee also agreed to extend the decision deadline for several other licensing applications.

The Cabinet noted the Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2023-24. The Cabinet noted the Record of Corporate Director’s Actions Quarter 1& 2 (2024 -2025). The Cabinet noted the Homecare Procurement Contract Award – Process Update and the reasons for the officer decision not to award the Homecare contract.
Human Resources Committee - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The committee noted the reports on the 2023/24 Early Retirement and Voluntary Redundancy scheme, the update on senior recruitment, and the quarterly review of employee relations casework. The committee also noted the proportionality calculations for the membership of the Appointments Sub-Committee and agreed to amend the membership arrangements to reflect them.
General Purposes Committee - Monday, 2nd December, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The committee discussed the appointment of school governors, whether it should formally respond to a government consultation on remote council meetings, proposed changes to the council's constitution, and received a report on the conduct of recent elections. The committee decided to note the contents of the reports it received, to continue to discuss the location of the State of the Borough debate, and to develop a proposal for the use of AI in council reporting.
