Council - Monday 22nd July 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Council approved the delegation of planning powers from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to Newham Council, appointed a new Monitoring Officer and made appointments to several committees. The Council also debated a motion relating to comments about the Bangladeshi community made by the Labour Party leader, Sir Keir Starmer. An amendment to the motion, proposed by the Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz, was passed and the substantive motion, as amended, was agreed. A motion on child poverty was withdrawn. The Council also agreed a motion on the Newham dental crisis and a motion on temporary accommodation.

The Committee noted updates on the Council's progress on recruitment compliance, external audit, treasury management, counter-fraud, GDPR, tenancy audits, internal audit and savings delivery, making no decisions.

Audit Committee - Wednesday 19th June 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Audit Committee of Newham Council met on Wednesday 19 June 2024 to discuss various topics, including the Affordable Homes for Newham contract variation, cyber security, and the Year Ahead Forward Plan. Key decisions were made regarding the addition of quarterly reports on the Savings Delivery Programme to the Forward Plan and actions related to cyber security and the Affordable Homes for Newham contract.

Special Meeting, Audit Committee - Tuesday 21st May 2024 7.00 p.m.

The meeting focused on two main topics: a cyber report and an affordable housing report. The cyber report was discussed first, followed by the affordable housing report, both of which were moved to a private session to avoid public disclosure of sensitive information.
