The Overview & Scrutiny Committee (OSC) of Tower Hamlets Council met on 15 September 2025, to discuss the Youth Justice Strategic Plan, the council's gambling policy, budget monitoring, and the committee's work programme. The committee agreed to endorse the Youth Justice Strategic Plan 2025-2028 and recommend the adoption of the revised Statement of Gambling Policy to the full council. They also reviewed the budget monitoring report for the first quarter of 2025-26 and discussed the overview and scrutiny work programme for 2025-26, agreeing to a compromise to allow for future amendments.

Interviews for the Director of Corporate Properties and Estates, Appointment Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 9th September, 2025 2.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Appointment Sub-Committee met to interview candidates for the role of Director of Corporate Property and Estates and to determine which candidate, if any, should be offered the post. The Committee also approved the minutes of their previous meeting held on 18 August 2025. Due to the confidential nature of the discussion regarding the candidates, the press and public were excluded from the meeting.

The Appointments Sub-Committee met to discuss shortlisting candidates for the position of Director of Public Protection and Integrated Enforcement. The Tower Hamlets Council Appointments Sub-Committee met to confirm the shortlisting of candidates for the Director of Corporate Property and Estates position. The meeting also covered procedural items, including declarations of interest and confirmation of minutes from a previous meeting. Due to the confidential nature of the substantive agenda item, the report pack recommended that the press and public be excluded from the majority of the meeting.

The Tower Hamlets Council Appointments Sub-Committee met on Monday, 18 August 2025, to discuss shortlisting candidates for the role of Director of IT. Councillor Maium Talukdar, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Lifelong Learning (Statutory Deputy Mayor), was scheduled to chair the meeting. Much of the meeting was scheduled to be held in private due to the confidential nature of the information to be discussed.
