The Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission of Hackney Council was scheduled to consider the outcomes of an Ofsted Area SEND Inspection and engage in a question and answer session with Cabinet members on various policy areas. Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission - Monday 9 March 2026 7.00 pm

The Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission met on Monday 09 March 2026 to discuss Hackney's Evening and Night Time Economy Strategy and the Council's business support provision. The Commission reviewed the progress of the Hackney Nights Accreditation Scheme and the proposed objectives of the new strategy, which aims to balance economic growth with resident needs. They also heard updates on business support programmes, including Hackney Impact and London & Partners, and discussed the challenges and opportunities for high street businesses.

Budget Setting, Council - Wednesday 4 March 2026 7.00 pm

The Hackney Council meeting on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, saw the approval of the 2026/27 budget and Council Tax rates, with a 4.99% increase for Hackney residents. A key decision was the adoption of the right to grow principle, committing the council to work with community groups to identify and make suitable council-owned land available for food cultivation. The council also noted the fourth and final annual update of its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, highlighting progress made in housing, tackling poverty, and climate action.
