Housing and Regeneration Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Monday 30th September, 2024 6.30 pm
The meeting discussed the adoption of a new Vulnerability and Domestic Abuse Policy and associated procedures by Westminster City Council's Housing Service, and agreed to consult the public on the introduction of a selective licensing scheme for private rented properties in the borough. The Committee made four recommendations about the Vulnerability and Domestic Abuse Policy, and three recommendations about the selective licensing proposals.
Council - Wednesday 18th September, 2024 7.00 pm
At this meeting of the full council, a number of petitions and questions were presented by members of the public, two topics were debated by Councillors, a new Instrument of Governance for the Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) was approved, and a motion was passed relating to supporting pensioners struggling with the cost of living.
Climate Action, Environment and Highways Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 10th September, 2024 6.30 pm
The Committee agreed to add a pre-decision scrutiny piece on the Pimlico District Heating Undertaking (PDHU) to the October meeting. It also decided to add an item to November’s meeting to scrutinise the Public Conveniences Modernisation Programme. The Committee reviewed progress on the Sustainable Transport Strategy and made recommendations on horse riding, trade parking permits and reporting dangerous driving.
Audit and Performance Committee - Thursday 5th September, 2024 6.30 pm
The committee discussed the performance and finances of the council at Quarter One of the 2024/25 financial year. The committee noted the reports presented to them. They requested the following: a selection of schemes in the Capital Programme be examined in more detail; more information on the costs and benefits of using Savills for the Behind Every Door project; data on serious youth violence across the City; the monetary value for the projects on the procurement forward plan; information regarding standard council terms and conditions and why some suppliers commence work without a contract in place; and finally more detail on waste cleansing costs be provided at the next meeting.
Planning (Major Applications) Sub-Committee - Tuesday 3rd September, 2024 6.30 pm
The committee approved two applications for major developments: the demolition and replacement of an office building at 1 Victoria Street with a larger office building that also incorporates retail units, and the demolition and replacement of a car repair garage at 1-4 Eaton Mews West with six dwellinghouses and an office.
