Health Scrutiny Committee for Lincolnshire - Wednesday, 15th October, 2025 10.00 am
The Health Scrutiny Committee for Lincolnshire met to discuss several key healthcare issues, including the future of dementia services in Grantham, an overview of maternity and neonatal services across the county, and the progress of neighbourhood health initiatives. The committee supported the permanent closure of the Manthorpe Ward in Grantham, favouring the continuation of the Dementia Home Treatment Team. Councillor Stephen Bunney, Chairman of the Council, opened the meeting with tributes to former councillors and staff, before councillors moved to discuss the financial performance review, the youth justice plan, and a motion regarding asylum seekers. Councillors approved the Lincolnshire Youth Justice Plan 2025-28, and voted to approve an amended motion regarding the location of asylum seekers in the county. They also approved the calendar of meetings for 2026/27, and made appointments to committees and outside bodies.

The Lincolnshire Council's Overview and Scrutiny Management Board upheld the decision made by Councillor Tom Catton, Executive Councillor for Resources and Councillor Michael Cheyne, Executive Councillor for Highways and Transport, to approve a £578,500 highway drainage upgrade scheme at Mount Lane, Kirkby la Thorpe. The board debated concerns about the project's cost, scale, and impact, but ultimately voted against referring the decision back to the executive councillors for reconsideration.
