Council - Monday 16th September 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Council approved motions on the provision of public toilets in the borough, the transfer of planning powers from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to the Council, and a motion cracking down on knife crime. The Council also approved the allocation of seats on council committees, and the adoption of a revised complaints procedure. A Green motion on child poverty and a Green amendment to the London City Airport motion were both defeated.

Standards Advisory Committee - Wednesday 11th September 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Standards Advisory Committee agreed their proposed work programme, noted the lack of declarations of gifts and hospitality, and noted the declarations of interest made. The committee also discussed the Local Government Association (LGA) Corporate Peer Challenge feedback report and action plan and how to address some of the issues raised.

Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee - Thursday 8th August 2024 2.00 p.m.

The Chief Officer Appointments Sub-Committee was scheduled to discuss the appointment of a new Director of Public Realm for Newham Council. The Committee was scheduled to interview candidates for the position and recommend an appointment to the Chief Executive of the council. The meeting was also scheduled to be not open to the public for some of the day.

Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 6th August 2024 7.00 p.m., NEW

This meeting was scheduled to receive a presentation about the council's performance against its own objectives. It also included a discussion about the council’s draft work programme for the coming year. Finally, there was scheduled to be a discussion about the make up of various scrutiny committees.
