Cabinet - Wednesday, 18th December, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The Cabinet noted the Strategic Delivery and Performance Report Year 3 Quarter 2. They noted the Budget monitoring report 2024-25 – Quarter 2 and that the projected overspend was unlikely to materialise. The Cabinet noted the Mayors Waste Improvement Programme Quarter Two Update and the Reduction and Recycling Plan Progress Report – Qtr 1 and 2, 2024-25. The Cabinet noted the Best Value Report and Draft Directions Update and endorsed the council's response to the draft Best Value Notice. The Cabinet agreed the Housing & Regeneration Scrutiny Sub Committee Challenge Session action plan on the performance of Registered Providers in Tower Hamlets. The Cabinet noted the Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2023-24. The Cabinet noted the Record of Corporate Director’s Actions Quarter 1& 2 (2024 -2025). The Cabinet noted the Homecare Procurement Contract Award – Process Update and the reasons for the officer decision not to award the Homecare contract.
Cabinet - Wednesday, 27th November, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The Cabinet of Tower Hamlets Council made a number of decisions at its meeting, including approving the continuation of business rates pooling arrangements with seven other London Boroughs, the adoption of a new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, and a new Substance Misuse Strategy. The Cabinet also approved plans to create a new nursery at Stepney Greencoat CE Primary School[^2] and to make a £1.5 million investment in leisure facilities across the borough. The Cabinet agreed to defer a decision on an application from The Roman Road Neighbourhood Forum to formally designate the area as a neighbourhood planning area.
Council - Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 7.00 p.m.
At this meeting, the council debated three petitions from members of the public and two motions proposed by the political groups. The council unanimously voted to reject or significantly reduce a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs and unanimously voted to adopt the Migrant Care Workers' Charter. The council also voted to adopt a motion asking for the reintroduction of Meals on Wheels. The council voted to change who chairs the council committees.
Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 13th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Strategic Development Committee voted to grant planning permission subject to conditions to an application to change the use of two floors of One Canada Square from office space to educational space. The committee also voted to approve changes to a Section 106 agreement to allow construction of a previously stalled residential development at Leven Road. The committee voted to defer a planning application for a purpose built student accommodation building at 7 Brannon Street to allow a site visit to take place.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 11th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Pensions Committee noted the reports of the Pension Board, Schroders, and officers. The committee approved the holding of a Pension Fund Information Forum for scheme employers and members in January 2025.
