The Overview & Scrutiny Committee (OSC) of Tower Hamlets Council met on 15 September 2025, to discuss the Youth Justice Strategic Plan, the council's gambling policy, budget monitoring, and the committee's work programme. The committee agreed to endorse the Youth Justice Strategic Plan 2025-2028 and recommend the adoption of the revised Statement of Gambling Policy to the full council. They also reviewed the budget monitoring report for the first quarter of 2025-26 and discussed the overview and scrutiny work programme for 2025-26, agreeing to a compromise to allow for future amendments.

Interviews for the Director of Corporate Properties and Estates, Appointment Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 9th September, 2025 2.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Appointment Sub-Committee met to interview candidates for the role of Director of Corporate Property and Estates and to determine which candidate, if any, should be offered the post. The Committee also approved the minutes of their previous meeting held on 18 August 2025. Due to the confidential nature of the discussion regarding the candidates, the press and public were excluded from the meeting.

The meeting was also scheduled to confirm the minutes of a previous meeting, and to consider whether to exclude the press and public from the meeting due to the confidential nature of the items on the agenda.

The Tower Hamlets Appointment Sub-Committee met to interview candidates for the position of Director of HR & OD and determine which candidate, if any, should be offered the post. The sub-committee agreed to exclude the press and public from the meeting due to the confidential nature of the information to be discussed. They also agreed to hold another meeting on Tuesday 9 September 2025.

Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee convened to discuss two planning applications: a large mixed-use development at Orchard Wharf and a change of use application at 27-29 Thomas More Square. The committee voted to approve the Orchard Wharf application, and voted to defer the Thomas More Square application for further negotiation.
