The Council of North Northamptonshire Council met on Thursday 22 January 2026, approving a revised scheme for members' allowances and a new municipal timetable for the upcoming year. The council also accepted the findings of a Corporate Peer Challenge progress review and agreed to a single Planning Committee structure.

During the meeting of North Northamptonshire Council, held on 11 December 2025, councillors approved the Corporate Parenting Board Annual Report 2024-25, the Northamptonshire Youth Justice Plan 2025-26, and the terms of reference for a Community Governance Review. They also agreed to introduce council tax premiums for long-term empty properties and second homes, and set the council tax base for 2026/27.

Appointment to Role of Independent Persons –Standards

...that Mark Bate, Claire Tilley, and Jessica Slater be recommended to full council for appointment as Independent Persons for a two-year term, with a possible extension, and that a constitutional amendment be recommended to allow the Monitoring Officer to appoint an Independent Person from another local authority if needed.

...to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and facilitate future reviews, the committee recommended to full council the establishment of an Independent Remuneration Panel consisting of Luke Bacon, Chris Davison, Gerard Dempsey, Craig Ellis, and Sue Watts for a term ending in May 2030, and delegated authority to the Monitoring Officer to manage panel vacancies and progress reviews of members' allowances.
