The Surrey County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including local government reorganisation, budget matters, and environmental concerns. Councillors approved changes to cabinet portfolios and committee appointments, and also voted to approve amendments to the council's constitution. A motion regarding the Planning and Infrastructure Bill was also passed.

Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee - Thursday, 3 July 2025 10.00 am

The Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee met to discuss the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service performance, and the council's involvement in aviation planning matters. The committee noted the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's (SFRS) progress on their improvement plan, and discussed aviation issues including noise pollution, air quality, and traffic congestion related to Gatwick, Heathrow and Farnborough airports.

Resources and Performance Select Committee - Wednesday, 2 July 2025 10.00 am

The Resources and Performance Select Committee met to discuss the Land and Property Maintenance Contract and the Surrey Property Group's business plan. Much of the discussion on both topics was held in private due to the commercially sensitive nature of the information. The committee also reviewed the forward work programme and recommendation tracker.

Audit and Governance Committee - Wednesday, 4 June 2025 10.00 am

The Audit and Governance Committee met on 4 June 2025, to discuss treasury management, audit plans, financial regulations, internal and counter-fraud reports, and committee effectiveness. The committee approved the Treasury Management Outturn Report, the External Audit Plan, the Internal Audit Annual Report and Opinion, and the Audit and Governance Committee Annual Report, while deferring approval of the Surrey Pension Fund External Audit Plan pending clarification of scale fees. The committee also noted proposed changes to the council’s financial regulations, and commended them to the council for approval.

AGM, Council - Tuesday, 20 May 2025 10.00 am

At the annual meeting of Surrey County Council, Councillor Tim Hall was elected as the new Chair, and Councillor Bernie Muir was elected as Vice-Chair. Councillor Tim Oliver OBE was re-elected as Leader of the Council for a four-year term. The council also discussed local government reorganisation, councillor absences, committee appointments, and various reports, including the officer code of conduct and the code of corporate governance.
