Surrey Council has agreed to change the way the Basingstoke Canal is managed. A new joint board, made up of Councillors from Surrey and Hampshire County Councils, will oversee the canal. An advisory panel, including experts in finance, waterways and biodiversity, will support the board.

Cabinet - Tuesday, 26 March 2024 2.00 pm

The Cabinet of Surrey County Council met on 26 March 2024 and made a number of decisions on subjects ranging from school building works to advertising policy. Notably, the Cabinet approved, in principle, the latest phase of the Surrey Infrastructure Plan, including new flood alleviation schemes. The Cabinet also discussed the future of advertising on Surrey's roads, and decided to write to the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) to understand how they are considering the environmental impact of advertising high-carbon products and services.

Farnham Board - Friday, 22 March 2024 10.00 am

The meeting on 22 March 2024 was an update on the various infrastructure schemes in Farnham. The Board noted the progress that has been made on a range of schemes, including new 20mph zones and the installation of wayfinding totems.

Strategic Investment Board - Thursday, 21 March 2024 10.30 am

The Strategic Investment Board met to discuss a financial sustainability review of Surrey Choices, one of the council's trading companies. The Board went into private session to discuss the review in detail and agreed to the recommendations made in the report.

Surrey-Wide Commissioning Committees in Common - Wednesday, 20 March 2024 10.00 am

This meeting was about the adoption of a new procurement strategy for mental health and social care in Surrey. It also included a report on spending from a mental health investment fund and a proposal for how to spend what was left in the fund. The meeting also received an update on the award of contracts for supported housing for adults with learning disabilities and those with mental health difficulties.
