The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to review the premises licence for Nick Market, and ultimately decided to revoke the licence due to persistent breaches of licensing objectives related to crime and disorder. The review was prompted by the discovery of smuggled goods on the premises, including non-duty paid cigarettes, hand-rolling tobacco, and non-compliant vape products. The committee determined that the premises had been used for persistent criminal conduct and that the licence holder had failed to take adequate remedial action.

Councillor Tony Vourou, Chair of the Children and Education Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee, welcomed attendees to the meeting, where the subcommittee discussed a range of topics, including youth services, school planning, elective home education, and family services. The committee noted the progress of several task and finish groups and reviewed the Cabinet Forward Plan.

Licensing Sub-Committee - Thursday 14th August, 2025 10.30 am

The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence with amendments to Vsands Trading Ltd, allowing them to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises between 10:00 and 23:00, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays; and to open to the public between 07:00 and 23:30, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays. The decision followed a hearing where concerns were raised by a local resident regarding potential crime and disorder. Several conditions were added to the licence to address these concerns.

The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to review an application for a new premises licence for Atmosphere Restaurant at 218 Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware. The committee ultimately decided not to grant the licence, citing concerns about potential public nuisance due to noise and the applicant's failure to provide adequate evidence to mitigate these concerns. Councillor Claire Farrier was appointed Chairman for the meeting.
