The Planning Committee of Waltham Forest Council met on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, to discuss and approve a significant redevelopment project at 278-284 Hoe Street, Walthamstow, London, E17. The committee granted planning permission for the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of an 18-storey mixed-use building comprising 66 Build to Rent (BtR) residential units, with 26% of these designated as affordable housing at Discount Market Rent (DMR). The decision was made subject to the completion of a Section 106 legal agreement and a stage 2 referral to the Greater London Authority (GLA).

Council - Thursday, 11th December, 2025 7.30 pm

The Council of Waltham Forest was scheduled to meet on 11 December 2025 to discuss several topics, including the council tax support scheme, fees and charges for 2026/27, and a proposed new smoke control order. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss the Corporate Parenting Board annual report and a protocol for honorary alderpeople.

The Waltham Forest Council Planning Committee met on 2 December 2025, and approved planning permission for the construction of two residential units on Boscombe Avenue, and for the demolition of the Grove Motoring Centre and the construction of a new residential building. Both developments are subject to conditions, informatives, and the completion of a Section 106 Legal Agreement (S106).

Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 19th November, 2025 7.00 pm

The Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to meet on Wednesday 19 November 2025, at Waltham Forest Town Hall. The agenda included Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) specialist services, the Violence Reduction and Community Safety Summer Plan and Safer Streets 2025, and the scrutiny report. Councillor Jack Phipps, was scheduled to chair the meeting.
