The Newham Council meeting on 9 October 2025 included discussion of gambling regulation, temporary accommodation safeguarding, and updates from scrutiny committees. The council approved the appointment of three co-opted members to the Standards Committee, and also received updates on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee's work programme.

Pensions Committee - Wednesday 8th October 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Newham Council Staff Pension Committee met to discuss pension administration, the budget, employer admissions, and investment strategies. The committee approved the Pension Administration budget for 2025-26 and the updated Admission Policy, and also discussed freedom of information requests related to fund investments. They also agreed to attach a note about a previous adjourned meeting to the minutes of this meeting.

Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Tuesday 23rd September 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Licensing Act 2003 Subcommittee of Newham Council met to discuss a new premises licence application for Go Donuts, located at 40 Plashet Grove in East Ham. The committee decided to grant the license with amended conditions, including reduced opening hours and additional measures to address concerns about noise and litter. The applicant, Go Donuts Upton Park Ltd, sought the license to operate as a late-night refreshment venue, but faced opposition from local residents.

Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 9th September 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Commission met on 9 September 2025, to discuss the repairs and maintenance service, and to receive an update on the C4 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The commission also reviewed and agreed its work programme for the next meeting.

Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Wednesday 13th August 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee was scheduled to convene to address a new premises licence application and to confirm the procedure for the meeting. Councillor Jane Barbara Lofthouse, Chair of the Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee, Councillor Pushpa Dipaklal Makwana and Councillor Winston Vaughan were scheduled to be in attendance. The main item for consideration was an application for a new premises licence at a location in Beckton.
