The Overview and Scrutiny Committee reviews the performance of local services, scrutinises council decisions, and contributes to policy development to improve service delivery for residents. It acts as a 'critical friend', offering constructive challenge to ensure services are delivered effectively and efficiently, making the best use of resources.
The committee considers the needs of local people, uses evidence to inform its findings, and promotes equalities and early intervention. It oversees functions including Corporate Finance, the Capital Programme, Economic Infrastructure, Procurement, Council Tax, Resident Voice, Corporate Performance, and Digital Services. The committee also has oversight of the work of other scrutiny review committees.
