The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) advises the Local Education Authority (LEA) on religious education (RE) and collective worship in its schools, excluding voluntary aided schools. It determines when the LEA's Agreed Syllabus for RE requires review and can instruct the LEA to undertake a review. SACRE also advises on teacher training for RE and collective worship and decides on requests from headteachers for collective worship that is not of a broadly Christian character.
