The Mayor must appoint
a Cabinet of between two and nine members selected from the elected
councillors.
The Cabinet meets monthly, usually in public on the
first Tuesday of the month at 10am.
See below for the dates and times of meetings.
The Mayor and her
Cabinet collectively makes key decisions as indicated in her
Scheme of Delegation and the Forward
Plan. The Cabinet considers all policy and budgetary framework
documents, reports from scrutiny bodies on scrutiny reviews.
The agenda and reports
are published 5 clear working days before the meeting and are
available on the Council’s Internet site or at Stratford
public library, Council offices or contact Democratic Services on
020 3373 1256. A decision notice is
also published, usually two working days after the meeting.
Each Cabinet Member is
in charge of a portfolio, rather like a Government
minister. The Mayor can, if she wishes,
give these councillors decision making powers. At present, decisions are taken collectively at
Cabinet meetings.
