The Corporate Scrutiny Committee scrutinises the work of the Cabinet and the full Council, supporting their operations and enabling public input on local matters. It conducts public inquiries, producing reports and recommendations to advise the Council on policies, budgets, and service delivery.

The committee monitors Cabinet decisions and can 'call-in' decisions before implementation to assess their appropriateness, potentially recommending reconsideration. It may also be consulted by the Cabinet or Council on future decisions and policy development.
