Overview & Scrutiny Committee

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee (OSC) in Tower Hamlets reviews council decisions, policies, and services to improve transparency, accountability, and value for money. It scrutinises decisions before or after they are made, proposes new policies, and comments on draft policies, aiming to ensure services reflect local people's concerns.

The committee can halt executive decisions for review and makes recommendations to the council. It has statutory powers to examine the work of partnerships and outside bodies, including health and crime reduction partnerships. The OSC has three sub-committees focusing on health, housing, and children's services.
