The Pensions Committee and Board of Haringey Council was scheduled to convene on Thursday, 15 October 2026, to review a range of critical financial and operational matters concerning the Haringey Pension Fund. Key discussions were scheduled to include updates on the fund's external audit, risk management, investment performance, and administrative activities. Pension Fund External Audit Update – Year to 31 March 2026
The Pensions Committee and Board was scheduled to consider the audit plan prepared by the Pension Fund's external auditors, KPMG, for the audit of the Pension Fund's Annual Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2026. The committee was also scheduled to review the statutory Annual Report from KPMG, which was to highlight their findings from the audit of the Pension Fund's statutory accounts. The report indicated that KPMG had been appointed as the Council's auditors by the Public Sector Audit Appointments Ltd, marking their third year as the Haringey Pension Fund's auditors. The audit plan was scheduled to outline KPMG's approach to auditing the annual accounts, including key areas of focus, planned scope, materiality, and significant audit risks. The report also detailed findings from the IAS 260 report, which communicates key findings arising from the audit of the Pension Fund Accounts.
Haringey Risk Register
The committee was scheduled to receive an update on the Pension Fund's risk register. This paper was prepared to provide an opportunity for the Pensions Committee and Board to further review the risk score allocation. The report outlined the risk scoring system, which assesses the potential impact and likelihood of identified risks, assigning a score from 1 (low impact, unlikely to occur) to 5 (high impact, very likely to occur). The RAG (Red-Amber-Green) rating system was to categorise the overall score for each risk. Key identified risks were scheduled for discussion, including regulatory non-compliance and maladministration, insufficient member knowledge, loss or corruption of scheme data due to system failure or cyber incidents, and poor investment governance and oversight.

This was to include a Pension Fund membership update, detailing the number of active, pensioner, and deferred members as of 30 June 2026. An update on the Online Member Self Service portal was also scheduled, outlining the number of active members registered on the Engage Portal. The committee was to receive an update on Service Level Agreement (SLA) statistics, highlighting performance across various case types, with a particular focus on transfer cases which were noted as being below target due to resourcing challenges. An update on the collection of employer and employee contributions was also on the agenda, confirming that all expected payments and corresponding contribution schedules were accounted for. Finally, the committee was scheduled to review Internal Disputes Resolution Procedures (IDRPs), with one new case noted concerning an employer's delay in making an Occupational Health referral for an ill-health retirement assessment.
