Annual Meeting, Council - Thursday 22nd May 2025 7.00 p.m.

The annual council meeting for the London Borough of Newham convened on 22 May 2025, featuring the election of Councillor Dr Rohit Kumar Dasgupta as the new Chair of Council and Councillor Imam Haque as the Vice-Chair. The committee approved the accounting policies for 2024/25 and noted the contents of the RIPA policy review, the audit committee annual report, and the year ahead forward plan. The committee also discussed the council's exceptional financial support (EFS) and its implications for the audit committee.

Council - Monday 28th April 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 28 April 2025 focused on the theme of Our Young People, Our Future. Councillors discussed and approved a report outlining the council's commitment to young people, debated motions related to youth services and safety, and heard updates from partner organisations and cabinet members. The council also approved the submission of a new local plan.

The Newham Council meeting on 24 March 2025 included discussions on belonging and inclusion in Newham, and the adoption of a reviewed statement of licensing policy. The council also agreed to provide Councillor Mohammed Gani with a dispensation for non-attendance at meetings until 20 October 2025 due to ill health.

The meeting received updates from the Council's External and Internal Auditors, received details of contract waivers that were approved in the last quarter, reviewed the Savings Delivery Programme, and considered a report on financing the 2025/26 Capital Programme.
