Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday, 8th July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee met to discuss several agenda items, with the main focus being the planning application for the redevelopment of the Teviot Estate. After hearing objections and support, the committee voted to grant planning permission for the application, subject to conditions and planning obligations. Councillor Lillou Ahmed was also elected as Vice-Chair of the committee.

Annual Meeting, Council - Wednesday, 14th May, 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 14 May 2025 included the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker, and decisions on the make-up of committees for the municipal year. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was elected as the new speaker, and Councillor Bellal Uddin as deputy speaker. The council also voted to adopt an independent chair for the Audit Committee and re-adopted the council's constitution.

Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee met to discuss two planning applications. Permission was granted for the demolition of Clare House and the construction of new residential dwellings and community floor space. Councillors also approved the erection of east and west extensions to the existing Global Switch House.

Interviews for the post of Director of Homelessness and Housing Options, Appointments Sub Committee - Tuesday, 8th April, 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Appointments Sub Committee met to interview candidates for the position of Director of Homelessness and Housing Options, a role that has been filled on an interim basis since August 2024. The agenda also included the confirmation of minutes from a previous meeting. As the substantive business on the agenda was exempt/confidential, the agenda stated that the usual arrangements for public attendance would not apply.
