The Tower Hamlets Development Committee voted to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of 5-6 The Oval, London, E2 9DT, subject to conditions and planning obligations. The development will include residential accommodation, shared living accommodation, workspace, cycle parking, play space, and landscaping. The decision followed concerns raised by residents of the adjacent Empress Works building regarding the impact on daylight and sunlight.

Human Resources Committee - Monday, 1st September, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Human Resources Committee met to discuss a corporate director's update, senior recruitment, employee relations, and savings from early retirement and voluntary redundancy. The committee approved the extension of interim arrangements for the Director of Governance to 31 December 2025. A report on the people survey was also noted, with a decision to move into a closed session for further discussion.

Health & Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 29th July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Health and Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss health and adult social care priorities for 2025-26, preparations for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, and the sub-committee's draft work programme. The committee agreed to review postnatal support for black, Asian, and multi-ethnic mothers, and also discussed A&E waiting times, winter pressures, and performance data.

Housing & Regeneration Scrutiny Sub Committee - Tuesday, 15th July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Housing and Regeneration Scrutiny Sub Committee met to discuss the performance of social landlords in the borough, and to review the council's response to a critical report from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The committee also agreed the terms of reference, membership, quorum and meeting dates for 2025/26.

Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday, 8th July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee met to discuss several agenda items, with the main focus being the planning application for the redevelopment of the Teviot Estate. After hearing objections and support, the committee voted to grant planning permission for the application, subject to conditions and planning obligations. Councillor Lillou Ahmed was also elected as Vice-Chair of the committee.
