The Executive approved the Risk and Opportunity Management Policy 2026–2029 on 02 September 2026. The policy establishes a consistent approach to managing risks and opportunities across the Council. Actions to implement the policy include formal approval and publication, roll-out and communication, updating risk registers, training, and assurance reporting.

The Executive of Middlesbrough Council approved recommendations for the Place Strategy to Investment Prospectus on 02 September 2026. The Executive noted the work of the Place Leaders Partnership, approved the town centre element of the Place Strategy as the Council's Town Centre Strategy, and approved the Investment Prospectus.

The Executive decided to approve the formal response and accompanying action plan to the Overview and Scrutiny Board's short review into the Council's approach to poverty on 2 September 2026. The Executive approved the formal response to the recommendations, the action plan for implementation, and noted the final report and progress made through the Making Middlesbrough Thrive initiative. The approved action plan includes embedding the Making Middlesbrough Thrive initiative into Directorate Service Plans, aligning existing strategies, developing a Partnership Strategy, engaging with the Place Leaders Partnership, enhancing corporate performance management, and reporting annually to the Overview and Scrutiny Board.

The Executive of Middlesbrough Council approved budget virements over £250,000 within the revenue and capital budgets on 02 September 2026. They also approved the inclusion of new externally funded schemes to the Capital Programme totalling £3.120m for 2026/27. The Executive noted the Council's financial performance and forecast year-end outturns, highlighting budget pressures and the need for ongoing work to address them.

The Executive of Middlesbrough Council approved the Teesside Crematorium Cremator Refurbishment Programme on 02 September 2026. The decision included the allocation of capital funding for the programme and the implementation of works such as cremator refurbishment, refractory replacement, installation of operational bypass flues, NOx abatement technology, emissions monitoring upgrades, and mechanical and electrical improvements.
