Council - Monday 22nd July 2024 7.00 p.m.

The Council approved the delegation of planning powers from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to Newham Council, appointed a new Monitoring Officer and made appointments to several committees. The Council also debated a motion relating to comments about the Bangladeshi community made by the Labour Party leader, Sir Keir Starmer. An amendment to the motion, proposed by the Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz, was passed and the substantive motion, as amended, was agreed. A motion on child poverty was withdrawn. The Council also agreed a motion on the Newham dental crisis and a motion on temporary accommodation.

Local Development Committee - Wednesday 17th July 2024 6.30 p.m.

This meeting of the Local Development Committee was scheduled to include a discussion of three planning applications. These were an application by the London Borough of Newham for the change of use of a building from commercial units to a community space, an application for the construction of an entrance extension at Essex Primary School, and an application for the installation of a new visitor entrance at Sandringham Primary School.

Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday 16th July 2024 6.00 p.m.

This meeting was scheduled to include discussions about a variety of planning applications, including the demolition and redevelopment of a Mosque in East Ham, an Outline Planning Application for a hotel at London City Airport, and an application for the continuation of an urban rooftop park in Stratford.

Local Development Committee - Tuesday 25th June 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Local Development Committee met on 25 June 2024 and approved planning permission for a new co-living scheme in Stratford and for a new block of flats in Forest Gate.

Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday 18th June 2024 5.00 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee of Newham Council met on Tuesday, 18 June 2024, to discuss several planning applications. Key decisions included the refusal of planning permission for the redevelopment of Abbey House, Bakers Row, Stratford, and the approval of the partial change of use for the Will Thorne Pavilion in Beckton. The committee also approved the change of use for 10 Grove Crescent Road in Stratford to a business school.
