The meeting approved both a new 10-year strategy and accompanying year one action plan for addressing the impact of sex work in Newham. The Cabinet also agreed the draft budget proposals for 2025-26, including an application to central government for exceptional financial support and a proposal to increase council tax by 9.99%.

The Council voted to approve the minutes of the last meeting, a range of treasury management proposals, amendments to the procedural rules, the new polling districts and polling places review, the recommended recipients of the Civic Awards, a report on exempted decisions made since the last meeting, and to appoint two Independent Persons[^1] for the council. The council also debated two motions, one about recruitment diversity and one about the Olympic Park Fixed Estate Charge. The Council voted to approve both motions, with the Fixed Estate Charge motion being approved as amended.

Relationship Between Black Boys and the Borough Scrutiny Commission - Thursday 14th November 2024 7.00 p.m.

This meeting included an update on the Council’s response to the Inquiry Report of the Relationship Between Black Boys and the Borough Scrutiny Commission, as well as reports on the inequality, disproportionality and inequity that young black boys and men experience in the borough. The meeting also included discussion on what Newham Council is doing to empower young black men, reduce their involvement in the criminal justice system, and promote targeted and universal youth provision. The meeting closed with a discussion on Newham's Young People’s Charter[^2].
