Cabinet - Tuesday 1st October 2024 10.30 a.m.
The meeting saw the adoption of the Council's new Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, a procurement exercise agreed for the 278 Oxlow Lane development in Barking & Dagenham, and decisions made about the future use of two council-owned properties, 46 Clova Road and 28 Oxlow Lane.
Council - Monday 16th September 2024 7.00 p.m.
The Council approved motions on the provision of public toilets in the borough, the transfer of planning powers from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to the Council, and a motion cracking down on knife crime. The Council also approved the allocation of seats on council committees, and the adoption of a revised complaints procedure. A Green motion on child poverty and a Green amendment to the London City Airport motion were both defeated.

The meeting decided to accept the Executive Response to the Black Boys and the Borough Scrutiny Report, to approve the acquisition of Chantler Close, to approve the proposed Adaptive Street Lighting Policy, to note the renewal ballot for the Stratford Business Improvement District (BID), and to approve the procurement of a new Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
Cabinet - Tuesday 6th August 2024 10.30 a.m.
The Cabinet agreed to adopt the 'Transforming Newham for the Future Plan', a new operating model that will involve £5.9 million in one-off investment costs and £13 million in recurring savings. Cabinet also approved a report that detailed a £22.2 million overspend in the 2023/24 financial year, a £40 million forecast overspend in the current financial year, and a possible £175 million budget gap over the course of the next three years, driven in the main by the ongoing and escalating temporary accommodation crisis in Newham. A public consultation is to take place in the autumn setting out the council's position and asking residents for their views on which services should be prioritised.
Health and Wellbeing Board - Thursday 1st August 2024 6.00 p.m.
The meeting reviewed the North East London Integrated Care System's (ICS) strategic approaches to meeting new population needs, received an update from Healthwatch Newham, and discussed action on diet for better health outcomes. Finally, it reviewed the Newham Health Equity Programme and the North East London Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy. The board noted the recommendations in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy and noted all other reports discussed.
