The Licensing Sub-Committee met to consider two applications. The application for a new premises licence for Osteria Angelina at 1 Nicholl's Clarke Yard was granted. The application for a provisional statement for a new cafe at 5 Newfoundland Place on the Canary Wharf Estate was also granted.

General Purposes Committee - Monday, 2nd December, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The committee discussed the appointment of school governors, whether it should formally respond to a government consultation on remote council meetings, proposed changes to the council's constitution, and received a report on the conduct of recent elections. The committee decided to note the contents of the reports it received, to continue to discuss the location of the State of the Borough debate, and to develop a proposal for the use of AI in council reporting.

At this meeting, the council debated three petitions from members of the public and two motions proposed by the political groups. The council unanimously voted to reject or significantly reduce a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs and unanimously voted to adopt the Migrant Care Workers' Charter. The council also voted to adopt a motion asking for the reintroduction of Meals on Wheels. The council voted to change who chairs the council committees.

The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence to Club Row Limited for the Knave of Clubs at 1 Club Row subject to a number of conditions. The main point of contention during the meeting was the applicant's request to be allowed to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises.
