Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 25th February, 2025 7.30 pm
The meeting focused on the accessibility and inclusivity of streets in Islington, the use of dockless bikes, and the effectiveness of street cleaning. Planning Sub Committee B - Tuesday, 11th February, 2025 7.30 pm
The committee approved plans for a new community garden at Sunnyside Community Center, approved the installation of heat pumps at Archway Leisure Centre, and approved plans for the infilling of two roof terraces and the enlargement of another at a penthouse flat on 14-22 Coleman Fields. The committee also approved plans to demolish a house on 33-37 Corsica Street and build a new home, subject to the developer contributing £9,000 to the planting of three trees elsewhere in the borough.

The committee heard a presentation about the council's work on greening the borough, and heard evidence from council officers about two council policy documents, the draft Climate Action Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), and the accompanying Retrofit Handbook. The committee also considered two of the council's annual reports, the 12-Month update on the Circular Economy and Green Jobs Review, and the 12-Month update on the Overview of the Council's 2030 Net Zero Carbon Programme Review.
Council - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 7.15 pm
At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.
Planning Committee - Monday, 9th December, 2024 7.30 pm
The committee approved a planning application for the demolition and redevelopment of 18-20 Tileyard Road to provide light industrial space at ground floor level, and flexible research and development and light industrial use on the upper floors. The committee also approved, subject to conditions and an updated Section 106 Agreement, a planning application to partially demolish, reclad and refurbish the existing building at 48 Chiswell Street, alongside a two storey roof extension to provide extra office floorspace and retail use at ground level.
