The Local Plan Committee of North West Leicestershire Council met on Thursday 4 June 2026 to discuss and approve the Proposed Submission Draft Local Plan for public consultation. The committee resolved to approve the draft plan, along with its accompanying policies map and sustainability appraisal, for a six-week consultation period. Authority was also delegated to the Strategic Director of Place, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Infrastructure, to make minor amendments to the plan and its associated documents before publication and submission.

The Local Plan Committee of North West Leicestershire Council was scheduled to discuss the adoption of a new Good Design Guide and consider updates to several key Local Plan policies. These discussions included proposals for strategic warehousing sites, housing types and mix, parking provisions, the long-term management of community assets, design standards for new developments, and the allocation for the Isley Woodhouse new settlement.

The committee received updates on evidence base studies and anticipated timescales for the Local Plan's progression, and also considered the Leicester and Leicestershire Authorities' Statements of Common Ground on strategic distribution and housing distribution.
