Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 29th April 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission met to discuss emerging issues in the borough, community mental health services, and leisure services. The committee agreed to extend the meeting to allow for a full discussion on leisure services. The Declarations of interest and minutes from the previous meeting were noted and approved respectively.

Council - Monday 28th April 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 28 April 2025 focused on the theme of Our Young People, Our Future. The council also approved the submission of a new local plan.

Call-In, Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 25th March 2025 7.30 p.m.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the call-in of a cabinet decision regarding the Populo Living Business Plan for 2025/26, focusing on whether the plan adequately addresses the council's housing needs and financial risks. The committee decided to take no further action, effectively endorsing the original cabinet decision. Key discussion points included the delivery of social rent homes, the financial viability of Populo, and the exploration of alternative development management options.

Council - Monday 24th March 2025 7.30 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 24 March 2025 included discussions on belonging and inclusion in Newham, and the adoption of a reviewed statement of licensing policy. The council also agreed to provide Councillor Mohammed Gani with a dispensation for non-attendance at meetings until 20 October 2025 due to ill health.

Strategic Development Committee - Tuesday 18th March 2025 6.00 p.m.

The Strategic Development Committee resolved to approve all four planning applications before them. These were a Reserved Matters application for a Multi-Function Building (MFB) at the former Paint Factory and Central Thameside West, North Woolwich Road, Silvertown; a Reserved Matters application for 600 homes at Silvertown Quays, North Woolwich Road, Silvertown; a full planning application for 355 homes at 68-70 High Street, Stratford; and the correction of a Section 106 obligation concerning a previously approved hotel at London City Airport.
