Newham Council approved its annual budget for 2025/26 which included a council tax rise of 8.99%. Two amendments to the budget, one from the Newham Independent Group and one from the Green Group were rejected.

Licensing Committee - Thursday 20th February 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Licensing Committee met to discuss the proposed Statement of Licensing Policy for 2025-2030. They approved the policy and noted that, if approved by full council, it will take effect for 5 years.

Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Monday 20th January 2025 10.00 a.m.

The Licensing Sub-Committee met to consider a review of the premises licence for Sam Food & Wine at 55A Field Road in Forest Gate. The review had been requested by the council's own Licensing Enforcement Team after two failed compliance checks, and was supported by Newham Trading Standards and a local councillor. After hearing representations from the licence holder, the committee decided to issue an informal warning and to take no further action.

Licensing (2003 Act) Sub-Committee - Wednesday 18th December 2024 10.00 a.m.

The Licensing Sub-Committee decided to revoke the license of Delondres Restaurant, 297 Barking Road, Plaistow, after the restaurant's license holder indicated that he would not be contesting the decision. The Sub-Committee heard from the Council's Licensing Team and the Metropolitan Police, who had applied for the license to be revoked. Two local residents also made representations in support of the revocation, and a petition was submitted.
