The Tower Hamlets Cabinet met on 18 June 2025, and made decisions on a number of key issues, including the adoption of new design guidelines for mansard roof extensions in conservation areas, the approval of corporate performance measures, and the commissioning of rough sleeping support services. They also approved a six-month extension to the 0-5 Public Health Nursing Services contract and agreed to exclude one supplier from domiciliary care service contracts due to serious concerns raised by a forensic report.

Cabinet - Wednesday, 26th March, 2025 3.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Cabinet, led by Mayor Lutfur Rahman, convened to discuss a range of strategic and financial matters, including budget monitoring, endorsement of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report, and bringing estates parking enforcement services in-house. The cabinet approved the Annual Delivery Plan for 2025/26, strategic delivery and performance report, budget monitoring report, and several other key decisions.

Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board - Monday, 23rd September, 2024 5.00 p.m.

The meeting covered a number of urgent public health issues and new plans and policies to be implemented in the borough. The Board approved the North East London Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy 2024-2029 and the associated action plans for the borough, as well as the new Violence Against Women and Girls and Women's Safety Strategy 2024-29. They discussed the findings of the Annual Public Health Report and its implications for Tower Hamlets and heard updates on the Better Care Fund review, Children’s Mental Health Services and provision for Children with Special Educational Needs, including an update on the SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2024-2029. The Board noted a report on Maternity and Neonatal Demand and Capacity and also a report on Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2023. Finally, they received an update on preparations for the forthcoming Care Quality Commission inspection of Adult Social Care services.

Cabinet - Wednesday, 24th April, 2024 5.30 p.m.

The Cabinet meeting on 24 April 2024 saw the approval of a new Community Engagement Strategy for 2024-2028, aimed at fostering better relationships between the council and its residents. Significant progress was also noted on the Women's Safety Action Plan, with many recommendations already implemented or in progress, and decisions were made regarding new regulatory functions for social housing and contract extensions for vital youth services.

Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Thursday, 8th February, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss children's health, relationships, sex education, and health education within the school curriculum, and the implications of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts for schools. Key decisions included a commitment to further investigate the impact of vaping, particularly concerning the presence of synthetic drugs, and to explore ways to improve the uptake and adequacy of free school meals. The committee also reviewed the council's guidance on relationships and sex education, noting that schools are not mandated to follow it, and discussed the upcoming expiry of PFI contracts and the council's preparations to support schools through this transition.
