Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel - Wednesday, 12th March, 2025 6.30 pm

This meeting of the Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel was scheduled to discuss education standards and achievements in the borough in 2024, receive an update from the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, and consider social worker recruitment and retention. The Panel was also scheduled to receive an update about the Children's Services' contribution to the delivery of savings as part of the Medium Term Financial Strategy 2024/25.

Licensing Review Sub-Committee

Licensing Review Sub-Committee - Wednesday, 5th February, 2025 6.30 pm

The Licensing Review Sub-Committee of the Royal Borough of Greenwich met to review the premises licence of Arnott Close Post Office, 6 Arnott Close, Thamesmead. Councillors heard that the shop had sold a nicotine vape product to a child, and that electronic point of sale records showed hundreds of sales of alcohol outside of the hours permitted by the shop's licence. Following the meeting, the Sub-Committee will make a decision on whether to revoke or amend the shop's licence, with a decision notice to be sent to the licence holder within five working days.

Council - Wednesday, 29th January, 2025 7.00 pm

The Council agreed to reduce the maximum level of support available through the Local Council Tax Support Scheme 2025-26 from 100% to 80% and agreed to reduce the time before charging a Council Tax Premium to unfurnished and unoccupied properties from 2 years to 12 months. They also noted the appointment of Councillor Sandra Bauer as the new Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, and voted to adopt a motion on protecting leaseholders from the cost of fire safety remediation work.
