The Hackney Council Licensing Sub-Committee B convened on 9 June 2025, addressing a premises licence review for Bar 161, 161 Mare Street and a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) objection for Night Tales, Units 13-15 Bohemia Place. The committee ultimately decided to issue a counter notice for the TEN, preventing the event from proceeding, and deferred the review of the premises licence for Bar 161.

The meeting was scheduled to be held remotely and live-streamed via YouTube. Councillor Sem Moema, Mayoral Adviser Private Renting and Housing Affordability, Councillor Anya Sizer, Cabinet Member for Employment, Human Resources and Equalities, and Councillor Sarah Young, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, were scheduled to be in attendance.

Licensing Committee - Wednesday 21 May 2025 7.00 pm

The Hackney Council Licensing Committee convened to discuss and approve several key items, including the Late Night Levy's financial performance and future strategies, and the establishment of licensing sub-committees for the upcoming year. Councillor Gilbert Smyth was noted as Chair and Councillor Richard Lufkin as Vice Chair. The committee approved recommendations regarding the Late Night Levy annual financial report, the Late Night Levy Year 8 Quarter 1 update, and the establishment of five licensing sub-committees for 2025/26.

Corporate Committee

Corporate Committee - Monday 19 May 2025 6.30 pm

The Corporate Committee of Hackney Council was scheduled to meet on 19 May 2025 to discuss a range of issues, including the establishment of the Planning Sub-Committee, environmental enforcement, business regulation, and the Corporate Peer Challenge update. The committee was also expected to note its terms of reference and work programme for the municipal year 2025/26.
