Licensing Committee - Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025 7.30 p.m.

The Licensing Committee convened to discuss several key items, including the establishment of licensing subcommittees, the late-night levy, and a review of prosecutions and appeals. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was appointed Vice Chair of the Committee for the year. The committee also noted its terms of reference, membership, and quorum for the municipal year 2025-2026.

Annual Meeting, Council - Wednesday, 14th May, 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 14 May 2025 included the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker, and decisions on the make-up of committees for the municipal year. Councillor Suluk Ahmed was elected as the new speaker, and Councillor Bellal Uddin as deputy speaker. The council also voted to adopt an independent chair for the Audit Committee and re-adopted the council's constitution.

Transformation and Assurance Board - Monday, 14th April, 2025 3.30 p.m.

The Transformation and Assurance Board (TAB) convened to address the Ministerial Directions issued in January 2025, focusing on a Continuous Improvement Plan, a Cultural Change Programme, and a Political Mentoring Programme. The board approved all three programmes, and also agreed to updated terms of reference. The board noted that the Continuous Improvement Plan would be reported to the full council in July, alongside the council’s first report to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

Council - Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Council meeting addressed petitions, a motion to support children with special educational needs, and a motion to address intimidation and harassment in politics. Councillors also approved the calendar of meetings for 2025/26 and designated a new monitoring officer.
