Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Thursday 2nd October 2025 6.30 pm
Councillor Paul Gleeson, Chair of the Committee, led the Boston Borough Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting, where members discussed Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership efforts, Anglian Water's infrastructure plans, community safety, and budget preparations. The committee recommended a safeguarding policy to the cabinet and agreed to bring back the Local Council Tax Support Scheme for further review at the next meeting.

Boston Borough Council met to discuss the 2024/25 outturn report, appointments to committees, the designation of a Section 151 officer[^2], the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership performance, and a motion to replace the Chairman of the Planning Committee. The council approved the transfer of a £1.015 million surplus to the volatility reserve, made appointments to committee vice-chairmanships and outside bodies, designated a Section 151 officer, and voted to replace Councillor David Middleton as Chairman of the Planning Committee with Councillor Peter Bedford.

The Licensing Committee of Boston Borough Council met on Tuesday 23 September 2025, to review the responses to a public consultation on the proposed draft of the Licensing Act 2003 Statement of Licensing Policy. The committee was also scheduled to approve the proposed policy for referral to the council for adoption and publication.
Planning Committee - Tuesday 9th September 2025 10.00 am
The Boston Borough Council Planning Committee approved the construction of a retail unit on land south of Swineshead Road, including car parking and landscaping. The development, intended for a Marks & Spencer (M&S) food store, is subject to several conditions and a Section 106 agreement[^2] to mitigate its impact. Concerns were raised about traffic congestion, the location of bus stops, and the potential impact on the town centre, but ultimately the committee voted to approve the application.
