The Strategic Development Committee (SDC) convened to discuss three planning applications and one listed building consent, all concerning the Truman Brewery site. The committee voted to refuse the application for a data centre at the corner of Grey Eagle Street and Kelvin Street, while also voting to refuse the application for the construction of a commercial building at Ely's Yard. The committee was minded to grant the planning application and listed building consent for the Truman's Brewery East site, but ultimately voted to refuse the application.

Longlisting for Director HR & OD, Appointment Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 29th July, 2025 5.00 p.m.

The Appointments Sub-Committee met to discuss the longlisting of applicants for the role of Director of HR and OD[^2]. The report pack included a recommendation to exclude the press and public from the meeting due to the confidential nature of the items on the agenda. The committee was scheduled to agree on a longlist of candidates to be invited for first-stage interviews.

Health & Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 29th July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Health and Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss health and adult social care priorities for 2025-26, preparations for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, and the sub-committee's draft work programme. The committee agreed to review postnatal support for black, Asian, and multi-ethnic mothers, and also discussed A&E waiting times, winter pressures, and performance data.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 21st July, 2025 6.30 p.m.

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee in Tower Hamlets met to discuss the Strategic Delivery Performance Report for Quarter 4, the Budget Monitoring Report for 2024/25, and the Strategic Vision 2035 Development and Engagement plan. Councillors raised concerns about recycling rates, the council's overspend on homelessness services, and the timetable for the new strategic vision.

Council - Wednesday, 16th July, 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Tower Hamlets Council meeting on 16 July 2025 addressed several key issues, including petitions related to community assets and funding, and the ongoing continuous improvement journey required by the government. While motions on housing and child poverty were submitted, they were not debated due to time constraints.
